Perfume: The Story of a Murderer By Patrick Süskind
Patrick Süskind is the writer of this novel “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer”. It was first published in year 1985. This novel was published by Hamish Hamilton in United Kingdom and Alfred A. Knopf published it in United States of America. It was originally written in English language and later, it was translated into English language.
The main character of this story is Grenouille. He was born in 1738 in Paris (France). He lives with his mother but after some time his mother left him alone and died, he become an orphan. There was nobody for him in this big world. He got some extraordinary powers of smelling things and he also have ability to work without light. These capabilities make him a strong and different man than other common peoples.
One day he was alone and he was thinking about odors and unexpectedly he smells a bad odor. The redolence comes from girl. She was walking by holding winning bottle. He kills the girl and move her somewhere else. Perfume maker was Baldini. He works in company and he met with Grenouille. Soon they both started to work together. Grenouille knows all the ways, how to purify the smell elements from their original form. he knows the process of distillation. Afterward, he moves somewhere else and started to work as perfume maker. He hides himself in a cave for a long time. Once upon a time, he hides himself in a cave of Montpellier’s mountain.
He was very genius he made a perfume and keep in touch with it and use it on daily basis. When people smell this perfume, it seems the natural body smell of someone. He got intelligence by nature and perfume making was his passion. He thought to make the perfume by killing girls and he use their body for making perfume. For this purpose, he killed many girls to fulfil his deep desire. Because he knows all the ways of extraction and the preservation so he always got his goals in better way.
Soon, police caught him and he shows all of his frustration that was towards people. He returns back towards Paris and his body was in front of peoples. That was cut into very small pieces and it used for perfume making.
