Anne of Green Gables is the novel of Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. This novel was first published in United States in June 1908. This children novel was considered as best novel in the mid of 20th century. Anne of Green Gables was followed by “Anne of Avonlea”, later it was preceded by Before Green Gables. This bestselling novel sold about 50 million copies and it was also translated into more than 20 languages.
In 1919, it was first time adapted for the featured film, later in 1934, in 1956 and in 1985, it was again adapted of the films. This novel was originally written in English language.
The story of this novel based on a 11 years old girl whose name was Anne Shirley. She was an orphan, so she sent to her siblings; whose names were Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. They both wanted to adopt a little boy but mistakenly a cute girl was sent. She suffers a lot but she makes proper space there. Anne has red hairs and gray eyes. She is brilliant, naughty, loving and bright girl. She has wish to enjoy her life properly. Her best friend name was Diana Barry.
Gilbert Blythe was also her class-fellow but he always teases Anne due to her red hairs. He always pulls her hair and used to call her carrot. She hates with Gilbert Blythe, but by passing tine her hate turns into love. When she grew up, she come to know that life was not for the joy but it is very unfair and harsh too. When she was of 15 years old, she wanted to get teaching license of Queen’s Academy. She also got a scholarship in the Bachelor of Arts.
Write makes this novel very enjoyable and creating some funny moments in it. This novel is suitable to children to read and enjoy the story. Anne also called as role model for the children.
